Our Art/Sci graduate students contribute significantly to the WashU community. As a form of appreciation, the OGS has organized a series of activities where our graduate students will have the chance to engage in different activities such as socializing, networking, unwinding, engaging in self-care, and much more.

 

Monday, April 1

GPSAW Kick-Off 

The Graduate Center, 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Come and join us for the exciting kick-off event of Graduate & Professional Graduate Student Appreciation Week! To make this kick-off even bigger and better, we’re happy to announce that we are partnering with the Grad Center, and other WashU schools. We’re going to have our signature Art/Sci pretzels, cupcakes and more.


Tuesday, April 2

Wellness Day Fair 

Women’s Building Lawn, 12:00 - 2:00 pm

Come and de-stress in a day of relaxation and self-care at our Wellness Day Fair, featuring a variety of engaging and interactive activities specially arranged for your well-being. This event is in collaboration with Habif Health and Wellness Center, Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention Center (RSVP), Sumers Rec Center, WU Grad Nature Trippers and Washington University Police Department (WUPD).


The Wellness Day Fair starts at 12:00 - 1:00 pm

Outdoors Gentle Flow Yoga sessions: 1:00 - 1:30 pm Sign up here!

WUPD Puppies (Brookie and Bear): 1:30 - 2:00 pm

Wednesday, April 3

Cooking on a Budget Class with Dining Services

Bear’s Den, 5:00 - 6:00 pm


As part of Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week, we have partnered for the first time with dining services to create this cooking-on-a-budget class! Come and join chef Justin Soller as we learn how to cook healthy and delicious food on a budget. Over the years Justin has worked at places like The Racquet Club Ladue, is one of the finest privately owned clubs in the heart of St. Louis. The Chase Park Plaza Hotel, a Four-Star Historic Hotel of America with over 255 luxury rooms and private condominiums. He has cooked memorable meals for dinners such as Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Cat Cora, Alton Brown, Wolfgang Puck, and Tyler Florence. He has overseen and cooked for huge events for all the major sports teams in St. Louis including the Cardinals, Rams, and Blues. Within the last 10 years he has worked in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Five of the years he was working for cruise ships and sailing all over the world. He was also the Executive Chef for the St. Louis Blues training facility.

International Alumni Panel

Virtual, 3:00 - 4:00pm

Join OGS and DBBS to hear from international alumni of our graduate programs! Panelists will share their experiences as international graduate students and pathways from their graduate programs to current careers. Current grad students will get the chance to ask questions and connect with our alumni panelists.

Donuts with the Vice Dean

Cupples II- Suite 204, 8:30-9:15am

Come to the Office of Grad Studies Suite and have coffee and donuts with Director of Grad Student Affairs, Andy Wiegert, and Vice Dean of Graduate Education, Dr. Sophia Hayes. There is no agenda nor formal topics - this is your opportunity to come and chat, hear, and be heard. Feel free to stop by at any time during the event if you are not able to attend the entire time.

Donuts with DBBS and ArtSci OGS

Farrell Learning and Teaching Center (FLTC) Atrium (Medical Campus), 9:00-11:00am

Join us for donuts with DBBS and the ArtSci OGS Student Affairs team from 9-11 am! As we celebrate Graduate and Professional Graduate Student Appreciation Week, we invite you to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy some delicious donuts. Feel free to drop by at your convenience during the event, even if you can't stay for the entire duration. Participating students will also have a chance to enter a raffle during this celebration. 


Coffee and Coloring

Cupples II- Suite 204, 1:00-3:00 pm

Take a moment to de-stress at the Office of Graduate Studies by joining us for Coffee and Coloring! Unwind with your friends as you engage in coloring activities and indulge with coffee. This event is open to our students and their families, so bring everyone along for a relaxing time.  


Friday, April 5

Americana GradWell Appreciation Picnic

McMillan Courtyard, 4:00-6:00 pm

This event is in collaboration with The Graduate Student Association of Arts & Sciences, Office for International Student Engagement, Office for International Students and Scholars and Tech Den.

Enjoy this all-American-style picnic and network with fellow students as we close the week. We’re going to have traditional American food, Games and more. Come and learn more about how this great United States of America was founded. Don’t miss it! We've also invited campus partners to join this celebration. Be there or be square!
