Students are able to talk and connect with faculty, staff, and students at our recruitment events as well as get questions answered and receive unlimited support along your graduate path at our recruitment events. Become an ArtSci Graduate Ambassador

Looking for opportunities to share your leadership skills and delve into community involvement with prospective graduate students while also enhancing your own graduate experience?  The ArtSci Graduate Ambassador Program allows current WashU graduate students the ability to promote The Office of Graduate Studies in Arts & Sciences and speak with prospective graduate students about the graduate effect at WashU.  ArtSci Graduate Ambassadors will have the chance to attend OGS / ArtSci graduate recruitment events (both in-person and virtual), seminars for academic and career growth, and other opportunities to connect with prospective graduate students as well as WashU faculty and staff.

Benefits

  • Pays a semester stipend of (TBD) in the fall semester and spring semester.
  • Paid professional development

What to Expect

  • Engaging with diverse individuals of all ages, races, genders, professions, abilities
  • Assists with campus tours (group and individual)
  • Initiates dialogue with prospective graduate students; answers questions
  • Volunteers at OGS / ArtSci Annual Open House for prospective graduate students
  • Assists Graduate Admissions with OGS / ArtSci Recruitment Weekend(s)
  • Serves as social media liaisons; sharing and promoting OGS / ArtSci events, campaigns, or article content through networks

Eligibility

  • Must be positive, accountable, and respectable of others’ thoughts, experiences, and of yourself.
  • Must be enrolled as a graduate student at Washington University in St. Louis for at least one full academic year.
  • Must be able to volunteer a minimum of 5 – 10 hours per semester
  • Must be able to attend a 30 minute – 1 hour mandatory orientation meeting (in-person / virtual TBD) in August.
  • Must be able to attend two (2) meetings per semester starting September 2023

 

Application Process

  • Complete ArtSci Graduate Ambassador Application
  • Provide a student testimonial (record a one-minute testimonial of graduate)

**Please make sure to provide your degree / program of study and what year graduate student you are in your recording.**
Testimonial Topics:  

  • Please describe your experience as a graduate student at WashU.  (Example: academics, extracurriculars, campus life, etc.).
  • Why did you choose WashU as your graduate school home?  Please feel free to be as open and honest as possible.
