2025 Schedule

Our Arts & Sciences graduate students contribute significantly to the WashU community. To show our appreciation, the Office of Graduate Studies has organized a series of activities for Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week (GPSAW). During this week, our graduate students will have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including socializing, networking, unwinding, engaging in self-care, and much more.

 

Sunday, April 6th

Melodies and Mingling: Pre-Concert Mixer at the 560 Music Center

Pre-concert reception: 6:15 - 6:45 pm, Concert starts at 7:00 pm

Join us for an evening of music and camaraderie at our "Melodies and Mingling: Pre-Concert Mixer," part of Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week. This special event will take place on April 6, 2025, just before the captivating performance by Vân-Ánh Vanessa Võ and the Blood Moon Orchestra as part of the Great Artists Series.

Come early to enjoy light refreshments, connect with fellow graduate students, and immerse yourself in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your hard work, unwind, and build community before experiencing an unforgettable concert.
After the mixer, we invite you to attend a mesmerizing performance by Vân-Ánh Vanessa Võ and the Blood Moon Orchestra. Their concert promises to be a unique and enthralling experience, showcasing extraordinary talent and artistry.

OGS/ ELP Stop, Drop (In), and Write 

Cupples II Hall - Room 102 (McLeod Conference Room),

10:00 - 11:00 am

Join OGS and English Language Programs for a supportive space to make progress on your writing projects in community with your fellow graduate students. If you’re struggling with writer’s block, need a dedicated time to write, or just want some accountability from others, this is the perfect space for you. We will open with brief reflections and tips related to writing before kicking off a writing session, with bagels and coffee to fuel you up. Bring your questions, your laptop, and be ready to write!

Join us for an exciting celebration as we kick off Graduate & Professional Graduate Student Appreciation Week (GPSAW). This special event is dedicated to celebrating and appreciating the hard work of our Arts and Sciences graduate students, come mingle with fellow students and the OGS staff in a fun and engaging atmosphere. We will have our signature Art/Sci pretzels, cupcakes and more. Coffee Vouchers available for the first 100 students who shows up!

 

Tuesday, April 8th

Passport to Wellness Fair

Ice Cream, You Scream, We All Scream Social with DBBS

McDonnell Medical Sciences Bldg - Cori Auditorium,

We are excited to invite you to an ice cream social that we are hosting in collaboration with the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (DBBS). This will be a great opportunity to relax, enjoy some delicious ice cream, and connect with fellow students, the OGS and the DBBS team.

12:00 - 2:00 pm

Embark on a journey to well-being at our Passport to Wellness Fair. This event is curated to help you de-stress and focus on your health through a variety of engaging and interactive activities. Each participant will receive a wellness passport, which they can get stamped at different stations throughout the event, and receive a wellness cooler. This Passport to Wellness will be in partnership with the Office of Religious, Spiritual, and Ethical Life, Relationship & Sexual Violence Prevention Center, Habif Health and Wellness Center, the Mindfulness team, and WUPD. We look forward to welcoming you at the Passport to Wellness Fair – your pathway to a healthier, happier you.

Stretch & Refresh Class

Gingko tree quad by Cupples II Hall and Olin Library

12:30 - 12:50 pm

Take a break from your busy schedule to stretch and refresh in just 20 minutes! OGS staff member and dance instructor Marleigh Anderson will lead a gentle, full-body stretch to help get your blood flowing and boost your mood before you head back into your work for the day. All levels welcome and no equipment required. We will primarily utilize standing stretches, so you do not need a mat, but you are welcome to bring one if you prefer. We recommend wearing clothing that you’re comfortable moving in.

Friday, April 11th

Graduate Appreciation Picnic

Bowles Plaza,

5:00 - 6:30 pm

Come relax and unwind as we celebrate the amazing Arts and Sciences graduate student community at WashU. This picnic is a wonderful opportunity to network with fellow students, enjoy some fresh air, and have a great time as we wrap up GPSAW. Look forward to a delightful evening with a DJ, delicious food from tradicional 314 Mexican cuisine, engaging conversations, and the chance to connect with various campus partners who will be joining us. Families are also invited to join in the celebration, making it a memorable event for everyone.
