The NIH Grant Writing Series consists of two lectures and a small group segment facilitated by experienced mentors (faculty, postdocs and PhD students) to teach grant writing skills with the goal of applying to an appropriate NIH fellowship or grant. Students in health science-related disciplines, who are interested in applying for fellowships outside the NIH, are invited to attend. 

The NIH workshop is offered to graduate students and postdocs who plan to apply for NIH F and K grants, and to private foundation fellowships in the health sciences. 

Lectures will be offered at both the Danforth and the Medical campuses

Following these lectures, students will meet in small group mentoring sessions that will enable students to have a completed application for fall/winter application deadlines. In these lectures, skilled grant writers (faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and senior PhD students) will mentor students and postdocs in their grant-writing. 

Please note: In order to attend the Small Group Sessions you must attend both Seminar 1 and 2, submit a draft of your AIMS, and register for the small group sessions. All are welcome to attend the first lecture without an obligation to attend the small group sessions. 

• Week 1: Introduction, Specific Aims, and Project Summary
• Week 2: Biosketch, Personal Statement and Training Plan, Relevant Background and Future Goal Statement
• Week 3: Revision of previous assignments.
